Lovers of food writing won’t want to miss Frank Bruni, speaking about his forthcoming book Born Round: The Secret History of a Full-Time Eater. The restaurant critic of The New York Times since 2004, Bruni brought to this august epicurean position a professional background as a White House and political reporter and former Rome bureau chief for the Times, and also a lifelong personal history as an overeater, having grown up in a self-described “big, loud Italian family in White Plains, NY.” His book is a humorous meditation on the unforeseen trajectory of his journalistic career, a paean to great cooking, and an exceptionally honest examination of his often troublesome struggle with food.
